Futuristic 120m Superyacht Project L Presented by Theirry Gaugain: Designer Theirry Gaugain has presented a new, ultra-modern superyacht concept called Project L. At 120 meters, Project L has naval architecture that combines the characteristics of a sailing yacht and a motor yacht.
Gaugain, in his first solo superyacht project, has designed a smooth ovaliform exterior with one-way glass that has the option to be fully opened to the elements. The exterior design is an “every-changing sculpture” that with the use of special paint will transform according to the yacht’s surroundings.
Project L can accommodate 12 to 36 guests along with a crew of up to 40. Her outstanding features include a high-tech underwater media room, a spa and gymnasium, along with a forward-facing owner’s lounge made entirely from glass for panoramic views of the ocean. Guests can enjoy two swimming pools, an extendable beach club, a helipad a drive-in tender garage and submarine escape pad on the exterior decks.
For performance, Project L will feature a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system for fuel-efficient long-range cruising. This means fuel consumption in some modes will be lower along with lower sound levels.
The design, likened to a beach pebble, may seem to lack openings, but these are hidden to preserve the ship’s profile. Similarly, navigation and communication equipment remain hidden, yet functional. Project L has one-way glass that protects the privacy of the owner and guests, while also bringing in light. The glass is also specially treated to blend with the exterior paint. These surfaces will reflect varying light and tonal conditions wherever the yacht cruises.
